Personal history – Mary-Ann Soltine

Well … I was born in Africa. That’s where I grew up. And I went to a local school where my parents made my brother and me work very hard so that’s probably why I did so well at school in my exams… I passed them all actually.

Anyway I left school at 18 and went to university in England. I got a place at Bristol University to study agriculture. It was a bit strange, living in England after Africa but I had quite a good time at university.

After that I went back to Africa where I met my husband … and we got married after a couple of years and came back to live in the village he lived in. And afterwards we went back to my university town with our 3-year-old son and I’ve lived there ever since.
